Listening to the roars, Diana said to her husband: "They want us to kiss."

Princess Diana
When messages began to filter through from Paris to the Royal Family's Highland retreat at Balmoral during the small hours of August 31, 1997, that Princess Diana had been involved in a serious car crash, the Queen could barely believe what she was hearing. At first it was thought that, though the car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel was serious, Diana had not been killed. According to one witness present when the Queen heard the initial news, she mused out loud: "Someone must have greased the brakes." That astonishing remark reveals something of the extraordinary and complex relationship between her and Diana - a relationship brought into sharp relief this week with the publication of never-before-seen photographs of Diana's wedding day. Taken behind the scenes at Buckingham Palac...

New Years Honours

Queen Elizabeth
MS patients in the Borders are celebrating one of their champions being awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List. Anne Elizabeth Campbell has been awarded the BEM for her services to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in the Borders. The 74-year-old, originally from Northern Ireland, has worked industriously for the society for more than 60 years. She is currently in Northern Ireland visiting a family member, but Anne’s son Richard told us: “She is a bit embarrassed about it all. “She says that there are many people who do more.” But Anne Weston, the chair of the MS Borders branch, of which Mrs Campbell is president, begs to differ. She said: “Since Anne arrived in the Borders in 1987 she has been involved with the MS Borders Branch. “This is a long-overdu

On the day he married the future monarch he was already a man of remarkable achievements, his own man—and he became the queen’s man only at a cost of vast personal sacrifice

Her Majesty The Queen
Last April’s wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, ubiquitously covered from Westminster Abbey by every medium from satellite to iPhone, served up a reminder that even we in this constitutional republic, where all are equal, can always be counted on to get caught up with the lives of those who are a good deal more equal than others. This proves especially true of British royalty, whose rituals of continuity and, even more, decorum offer up an object of contemplation raised a bit above pop stars and celebrity criminals. While the coming crop of princes and princesses gives us the faces of the future, Philip Eade’s new biography explores the bumpy early life of one of the less visible yet markedly more stalwart of the current House of Windsor, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the

PRINCESS DIANA'S STYLE MOMENTS It was the LBD worth a thousand words-in 1994, just as a documentary regarding her husband's infidelities was airing, a lithe and leggy Princess Diana strolled into a Serpentine Gallery benefit wearing a figure-hugging ruched minidress from Greek designer Christina Stambolian. The next day, every front page was devoted not to the Prince of Wales's televised confession, but to images of the glowing, confident 32-year-old Diana. Ever mindful of the power of fashion, three years later she auctioned off 79 of her favorite gowns at a Christie's auction that raised $6 million for AIDS and breast cancer charities. There are concerns that Charles may not be so free with access to archives and staff as the Queen would wish

Her Majesty The Queen, Prince Charles
Prince Charles’s passion for secrecy is often discussed by the Queen’s senior aides. For this reason, they would like work to begin soon on an official biography of his mother so that the author can have free access to the Royal Archives and the bulk of his or her work receive her personal approval. There are concerns that Charles may not be so free with access to archives and staff as the Queen would wish. When HMQ asked William Shawcross to produce the definitive biography of the Queen Mother, she granted him unfettered access to papers and people. Shawcross appears to be a frontrunner as her own biographer. Source: DAILYMAIL MAILONLINE

Princess Diana
Princess Diana was known for her charitable works and love for children. She was adored and respected by many across U.K. and even in other countries because of her grounded personality. Diana's children, Prince William and Prince Harry, have taken the good values that their mother imparted them with as they grow older. In their own way, they are keeping Princess Diana’s legacy alive. Prince Harry has somehow inherited Princess Diana’s love for children. In 1997, the princess went to Angola in South Africa, where she visited the victims of land mines and took particular interest in the children. In 2013, Prince Harry followed suit, where he was photographed enjoying his time with the children. Woman’s Day reports Prince William “has a magic touch with children.” The publication shar

Her Majesty The Queen
It was also a royal baby year when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's daughter Princess Charlotte was born in the run-up to the general election. There were major lifestyle changes for both William and brother Prince Harry as the Duke began a new job as a helicopter pilot for an air ambulance service and Harry said goodbye to army life, leaving the forces after 10 years. Meanwhile the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary, marking a decade of Camilla as an HRH. JANUARY The start of 2015 was, however, a difficult time for the royals when the Duke of York faced allegations in the US in January that he had sex with an under-age teenager.
