Catherine Duchess of Cambridge And Michelle Obama Join Forces On Mental Health

Duchess Catherine
Catherine Duchess of Cambridge was an editor at The Huffington Post U.K. for a day. There was even a temporary newsroom in Kensington Palace. The Duchess of Cambridge used the opportunity to talk about mental health in children and young adults. "No one would feel embarrassed about seeking help for a child if they broke their arm, and we really should be equally ready to support a child coping with emotional difficulties," Middleton said in a Place2Be public service announcement. And since Michelle Obama was a contributing writer, did that make Middleton her editor? Both women have worked to destigmatize mental illness before. Earlier this month, the U.K. marked its second-ever Children's Mental Health Week. This video includes a clip from ITN and images from Getty...

Duchess Catherine, Prince William
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit North Wales tomorrow to formally bid farewell to RAF Valley search and rescue operations. The royal couple will visit the base to attend the Search and Rescue (SAR) Force Disbandment Parade, which will mark the end of more than 75 years of RAF SAR UK operations. It is expected that SAR members and their families will pay tribute to the Force’s achievements during the event. The Duke and Duchess lived on Anglesey for three years when Prince William, as Flight Lieutenant Wales, was a SAR pilot flying the now-retired Sea King helicopter. During this time, HRH undertook 156 operations and rescued 149 people. In July last year, the service moved from RAF Valley, where it had been based since 1955, to Caernarfon Airport following privatisation.

Duchess Catherine
Today, Catherine Duchess of Cambridge is “guest-editing” HuffPo UK. She’s not the first and God knows she won’t be the last celebrity to turn her hand to gratis editorial work. The idea of the guest editor isn’t new, of course. Sylvia Plath was famously a guest editor at Mademoiselle after winning the magazine’s annual college contest. Obviously, there’s an element of marketing in soliciting your young readers to enter a competition in which one can come Get That Life! for a time. Vogue’s French outpost regularly solicited guest editors, including Salvador Dalí’s 1971 stint. But in those days, it wasn’t necessarily simply “celebrities” so much as people who somehow made logical sense to come spice things up. But magazines got a little weird in the 1990s! This was, after all, the era of

The Duchess of Cambridge said today that she ‘would not hesitate’ to seek help for her children if they were to suffer mental health issues. In her first online blog, Catherine Duchess of Cambridge said she and Prince William will also encourage Prince George, two, and Princess Charlotte, who will turn one in May, to ‘speak about their feelings’ openly as they grow older. She wrote: ‘Like most parents today, William and I would not hesitate to seek help for our children if they needed it. ‘We hope to encourage George and Charlotte to speak about their feelings, and to give them the tools and sensitivity to be supportive peers to their friends as they get older. ‘We know there is no shame in a young child struggling with their emotions or suffering from a mental illness.’ The Duche

Catherine Duchess of Cambridge has commissioned a series of articles on mental health issues affecting children and young people as guest editor of the Huffington Post UK website.

Britain's Prince William and his wife Kate would seek help for their children George and Charlotte if they had mental health problems one day, Kate wrote in a blog published on Wednesday that sought to tackle the stigma associated with mental illness. Acting as guest-editor for a day of the Huffington Post UK news website, Kate Middleton commissioned a series of articles on mental health issues affecting children and young people, introducing the project with her blog. "Parenting is hard enough without letting prejudices stop us from asking for the help we need for ourselves and our children," wrote Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge. "Like most parents today, William and I would not hesitate to seek help for our children if they needed it. We hope to encourage George and Cha...

Michelle Obama Joins Forces With Catherine Duchess of Cambridge on Media Takeover for Mental Health

Duchess Catherine
Today is a big day for Royals watchers: Duchess Catherine (aka Kate Middleton) took over Huffington Post U.K. as Guest Editor to raise awareness of mental health issues. Her cross-pond counterpart, First Lady Michelle Obama, backed up the initiative with a post of her on on the American HuffPo. Middleton’s husband is Prince William, the son of the much-beloved late Diana, Princess of Wales, a woman for whom mental health issues were a well-documented struggle, so her interest in the topic makes sense. Middleton’s stance was laid out early on in the day when she published her own blog post on overcoming taboos around mental health to get children the care they need. The mental health of our children must be seen as every bit as important as their physical health. For too long we have
