The Duchess of Cornwall represents Her Majesty The Queen at The Sovereign’s Parade

The Duchess of Cornwall represented Her Majesty The Queen today at The Sovereign’s Parade, Sandhurst.

The Sovereign’s Parade is held at the end of each term at Sandhurst and marks the passing out of Officer Cadets who have completed their Commissioning Course. Her Royal Highness watched as around 150 Cadets received their commissions before meeting guests, foreign dignitaries and Senior Cadets and their families at a reception.

The Duchess also presented various awards, including the Sword of Honour and The Queen’s Medal for academic achievement.

This was the first time The Duchess has represented The Queen at The Sovereign’s Parade.

During a speech, The Duchess said: “When I see so many young men and women standing immaculately on parade, I cannot help but believe that here are some who will confront trials as great as those faced by our forebears, who will rise courageously to the great challenges of the future and ensure that our values will not merely survive, but, indeed, prevail.

“I salute each of you, not just for your recent success, but for the successes to come in defending all that is great in Britain.”
