Revealed: The Queen’s hilarious nickname at the Palace
The Hilarious nickname Prince William gave the Queen when he was just a tot has been revealed.

Members of the public are given a strict set of guidelines on how to greet and address her Royal Highness.

When first meeting the Queen, she must be addressed as “Your Majesty” and the as “Ma’am”.

But these guidelines did not apply to her own family, with William giving his Gran the nickname of the average man on the street.

Mail columnist Richard Kay revealed he first learned of the nickname when William had an accident at the Palace.

He wrote: “The Queen was on hand after William fell over at Buckingham Palace, bawling ‘Gary, Gary’.

“A guest who went to help asked who Gary was, assuming it must be a member of the royal household.

“‘I’m Gary’, explained the Queen, as she scooped him up, ‘He hasn’t learned to say Granny yet.”

William’s son George also has his own special nickname for her majesty.

In a documentary to mark her majesty’s 90th birthday, The Duchess of Cambridge spoke about George’s relationship with his great-grandmother.

Kate revealed: “George is only two-and-a-half and he calls her Gan-Gan.

“She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay and that just shows her love for the family.”
